Create a Plexivo Postgres database
Choose a name, a PostgreSQL version, a size, storage, backups, replicas and a standby, and see the monthly price before you create.
A new Plexivo Postgres database is ready in a few minutes, with continuous backups, TLS and a generated password from the start. You see the price and the connection limit before you create it.
Before you begin#
- A Plexivo account with permission to create resources in your organisation. See Create your account.
- Optional: a project to put it in. Apps in the same project reach the database over the private network. See Projects.
Create it#
- Start. Choose Create, then Plexivo Postgres.
- Name it. Enter the Database name: 3 to 40 lowercase letters, digits and dashes, starting with a letter and ending with a letter or digit. Choose the Project, or leave the default to create one with the database.
- Pick a version. PostgreSQL 17 is marked Recommended and chosen for you. PostgreSQL 18 is also available. See Versions and upgrades.
- Choose the size and recovery. Under Size and recovery:
- Database size: from 0.25 vCPU and 512 MB up, in standard, high-memory and ultra-memory families.
- Storage: from 5 GB, in 5 GB steps.
- Backups kept: how many days you can restore back to, up to your plan’s maximum.
- Read replicas, on plans that include them.
- Standby with automatic failover. On Business it is included and always on.
- Check the price and create. The Estimated monthly cost is shown before you create. Plexivo charges it by the day.
On plans that offer both, you can also choose Shared vCPU or Dedicated vCPU. Business and Enterprise databases run on dedicated vCPU.
What every database includes#
- A database named
app, owned by a user namedapp, with a generated password. - TLS on every connection.
- Continuous backups and recovery to any second within your backup period. They are always on.
- Security patches in your weekly maintenance window.
- The request roles
anon,authenticatedandservice_role, ready for the Data API.
The name you choose is the database’s name in Plexivo. Inside PostgreSQL, you always connect to the database app.
Backup days by plan#
| Plan | Backups kept, at most | Read replicas per database |
|---|---|---|
| Developer | 7 days | — |
| Startup | 14 days | 1 |
| Business | 30 days | 2 |
| Enterprise | 35 days | Up to 5 |
These are each plan’s default limits; Pricing has every limit side by side.
For startups Start small: the smallest size with 10 GB is enough for a first product. You can resize later from Settings, and the connection limit follows the new size.
