Sessions
Console sessions end after inactivity and after a maximum length. Owners choose both limits for their organisation.
A console sign-in does not last for ever. It ends after a period without activity, and in any case after a maximum length, so a forgotten browser tab does not stay signed in.
The default limits#
| Limit | Default | Owners can choose |
|---|---|---|
| Sign out after inactivity | 2 hours | 15 or 30 minutes; 1, 2, 4, 8 or 12 hours |
| Sign in again every | 12 hours | 1, 2, 4, 8, 12 or 24 hours |
Only what you do counts as activity: a page refreshing itself in the background does not keep you signed in.
Change the limits#
An organisation owner can change both limits in Settings → Security, under Session control. Admins and members see the limits but cannot change them.
If you belong to more than one organisation, the strictest limits among them apply to your sign-in.
Before you are signed out#
Two minutes before an inactivity sign-out, the console says You’ll be signed out in 2 minutes. Choose Stay signed in to carry on. Two minutes before the maximum length, it says Your session ends in 2 minutes. Save your work and sign in again.
CLI sessions#
Plexivo CLI sessions have their own length: 1, 4, 8, 12 or 24 hours, 8 by default. Owners and admins set it under Sign-in policy in Settings → CLI sessions. See Install the CLI.
For API clients#
When a console session ends, renewing it (POST /api/v1/auth/refresh) is answered with 401 and the error code reauthentication_required, and details.reason says whether it was idle or absolute.
