Commitments
Commit to a monthly amount for one or three years and pay less for your apps, databases and caches, settled day by day.
If your usage is steady, a commitment lowers what you pay for resources, the way savings plans work at large clouds. You commit to a monthly amount for 12 or 36 months; the longer term gives the bigger discount.
How it works#
- Get a quote. In Billing → Commitments, choose the Term, enter the Monthly commitment (US$) and choose See the saving. The console shows the discount, what your commitment covers at normal rates and the total over the term.
- Commit. Choose Commit, confirm that you understand it is owed for the whole term, and choose Commit again.
- Pay less every day. Each day, your resource charges at list price, up to the amount your commitment covers, are replaced by the commitment’s daily fee: the monthly amount divided by the days in that month.
What it covers#
A commitment covers the charges for your resources: apps, databases, caches and Kubernetes workloads. It does not cover plan fees, Plexivo AI, build minutes or other usage charges such as data transfer.
Above and below your commitment#
- Above: usage beyond what the commitment covers is charged at the normal price.
- Below: the daily fee is charged even on days you use less. Commit to the amount you are sure to use.
Before you commit#
A commitment runs for its whole term and cannot be cancelled. Its fee comes from your wallet each day, so keep the wallet topped up.
For businesses Commitments suit production workloads that run all month. Start with the resources that never stop, such as your main database, and commit to what they cost today.
